To comply with local regulations and deliver a highly tailored experience, Apple has partnered with two Chinese tech heavyweights:
Alibaba: An Alibaba spokesperson confirmed that its advanced Qwen AI model will provide the underlying foundation for Apple Intelligence in China. This deep integration will span across all compatible iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and visionOS devices sold in the region, powering core capabilities like text and image generation.
Baidu: A Baidu spokesperson also confirmed that the company is collaborating closely with Apple to develop highly localized features. Baidu will reportedly power an AI-driven search experience and significantly enhance Siri's capabilities specifically for Chinese consumers.
When Will Apple Intelligence Launch in China?
While this regulatory green light is a massive milestone for Apple, the company has not yet announced an official launch date. The regulatory statement published by the government also did not specify exactly when the features will go live for the general public.
For now, Chinese iPhone users will have to wait just a little longer. However, industry analysts predict that Apple Intelligence could roll out alongside the official iOS release later this fall or by early 2027. This approval is a clear signal that Apple's localized, on-device AI experience is finally moving from the drawing board to reality for millions of users in China.
