Mobileye and Stellantis Partner on Cloud-Based ADAS
Mobileye Global will supply Stellantis with advanced, cloud-driven advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), the Israeli technology company announced. As automakers worldwide race to meet the rising consumer demand for connected safety systems, this partnership marks a significant step forward for both companies.
The companies confirmed that select models from Stellantis—the parent company of major brands such as Jeep, Chrysler, and Ram—will integrate Mobileye's Road Experience Management (REM) technology starting in 2027. The first applications of this technology are expected to debut in select U.S. Stellantis models next year, with a wider rollout subject to specific vehicle platforms and configurations.
Harnessing Crowdsourced Road Data
ADAS has rapidly become one of the automotive industry's fastest-growing technology sectors. Carmakers are aggressively competing to offer increasingly sophisticated safety and convenience features, which also present opportunities to generate higher-margin software revenue.
Mobileye's system works by collecting road data through front-facing cameras installed in vehicles equipped with EyeQ technology. This data is seamlessly combined with cloud-based mapping intelligence. By utilizing this crowdsourced road data, vehicles receive real-time updates on lane markings, complex road layouts, and active construction zones, vastly improving functions like intelligent lane keeping and hands-free driving.
While this technology is widely viewed as a crucial stepping stone toward fully autonomous driving, regulatory bodies currently still require drivers to remain attentive and keep their eyes on the road when using these hands-free systems.
A Massive Data Network
With this agreement, Stellantis becomes the fifth of the world's ten largest automakers to actively contribute data to Mobileye's expansive REM platform.
The scale of this platform is immense:
It covers more than 95% of all public roads across the United States and Europe.
Last year alone, more than 8 million vehicles logged a staggering 34 billion miles of data on the platform.
This massive integration of crowdsourced intelligence will allow future Stellantis vehicles to navigate with unprecedented precision, bringing the industry one step closer to a fully autonomous future.
